20th Annual Art Contest Sponsored by Blue Line Pro

Age Groups: 12 and under, 13-17, and 18+.

Categories: Black & White and Color.

Details: Submissions will be accepted as early as Friday when the convention opens until Sunday at Noon. All winners will have their art returned to them with their prizes even if not present when contest awards are given out. We will mail the items to you by US Postal Service. We prefer original art, no prints. No published professionals can enter, this is an amateur art contest afterall.

Arrangements can be made to have your art picked up by the end of the convention on Sunday. But must be made when art is dropped off. If your art does not win and you are not present to claim your art, it becomes property of Motor City Comics.



Costume Contest

Held on Saturday afternoon, the 20th annual Costume Contest is being sponsored by Alienated Productions.

In honor of Motor City Comic Cons 20th Anniversary the 501st Legion are teaming up with the areas most unique mixtape masters of "The Bang!" to bring the biggest pop culture fans an after party they won't soon forget!

This year's Speaker Rooms are located within the hall along the east wall and have tall black curtains. They'll be clearly marked Speaker Rooms 1, 2, & 3:

Speaker Room 1 is the large room located in north east corner
Speaker Room 2 is Located along the east wall in the center, and
Speaker Room 3 is the located in the south east corner.

Come and find out what the Great Lakes Garrison has in store for this year's 20th anniversary Comic Con. Check your gear, make sure all your Star Wars costumes are fitting right, and prepare for the weekend.

2:30pm - Speaker Room 1:Come meet John Schneider and Catherine Bach of T. V's Dukes Of Hazzard
Come and find out about this legendary T.V. show. Come and participate in a chance to talk with Hazzard County's Notorious badboy

3:00pm - Speaker Room 2: Meet Billy Tucci,Don Burgett and Russ Heath
Come and find out about “The Rock”. Not wrestling superstar The Rock. But the Sgt Rock, DC Comics greatest war hero of all time. Come find out about the past of Sgt Rock and its reincarnation from Billy Tucci. Find out From Don Burgett how his contribution to Americas Greatest war, WW2. And how his stories have inspired this new story of Sgt Rock by Billy Tucci.

Come and find out about the careers of Marvel Greats Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz. Find out about their past and the future of these two comic book legends

3:30pm - Speaker Room 1: Battlestar Galactica - "The Colonel, the Chief and the Kat" - Michael Hogan, Aaron Douglas, and Luciana Carro
Battlestar Galactica was one of the most successful recreations in the history of television. Secrets were essential to its appeal and success. The members of our panel revealed their share of secrets while serving as crewmen aboard the battleship. This is your chance to see what you can learn from an interactive panel with some very influential pieces of the human/cylon conflict.

4:30pm - Speaker Room 2: Meet C.J. Graham and Warrington Gillette
Come hear the tale of two Jasons. Both C.J. Graham and Warrington Gillette starred as the legendary slasher Jason Voorhees inthe cult-classic horror film Friday the 13th. Find out the difference between their slashing styles and how making these movies have changed their lives forever.

4:45pm - Speaker Room 3: Meet Silver Age Sensation Frank Brunner
Come and meet Silver Age Legend Frank Brunner and join in a panel that will encompass over 25 years of comic book history. From Dr. Strange, Elric, Conan and Howard the Duck. His artwork has graced the pages of Marvel comic books for over two decades. Come and find out what his future holds.

4:30pm - Speaker Room 1: Speaker Room 1: Come and see Star Trek: Phase 2 Blood & Fire
The new show will be the continuing voyages of Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701 as seen in the 1966-69 television series, Star Trek. The series was canceled after its third season. This fan film is presenting the series as if it were in its fourth year. Come beam back to the past and watch Star Trek on the big screen. This IS your father's Star Trek. 2 hour run time.

5:30pm - Speaker Room 2: Meet Tommy Castillo
Come and find out about Tommy’s up coming big news in the motion picture world and his work in DC Comics. Come and meet his cast of fellow comic artist’s Dirk Strangely and Primo to discuss there new and up coming projects.

12:00pm - Speaker Room 3: Meet The 501st Great lakes Garrison "the world's most famous Star Wars costuming club"
Meet the faces behind the masks! This panel will give guests the opportunity to meet members the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion costuming clubs and learn what it takes to become a part of these fun and fascinating organizations. There will be discussion about the making of movie-accurate costumes and props as well the clubs involvement with many local communities and charity groups.

12:00pm - Speaker Room 1: Hellboy 2 comes to the Motor City, Come Meet Doug Jones & John Alexander
Come and join this Q & A from Hellboy's Abe Sapien (Doug Jones) and Johann Kraus (John Alexander). Find out what it was like behind the scenes and on the set. Also find out about The making of the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and what it was like to play one of Marvel Comics' greatest cosmic superheroes and if there are plans for one more Fantastic Four movie. Come and see a trailer form a few new projects from Doug and John.

12:30pm - Speaker Room 2: TNA Wrestling not just a squared circle Meet Kevin Nash aka The Big Sexy, Tracy Brooks and Christy Hemme
Find out how it is to work for TNA Wrestling and their unique ring set up. Main Event Mafia is in the house. Come and meet wrestling super stars leader of the main Event Mafia, Kevin Nash, Tracy Brooks and Christy Hemme. TNA Wrestling is here to stay. Find out some of the ins and outs of the wrestling industry from these TNA super stars.

1:15pm - Speaker Room 3: Meet Avatar press and the artistic talents of Paul Duffield and Mike Wolfer
Come and talk with Avatar Press' Paul Duffield who has come all the way from across the pond to make the Motor City Comic Con his very 1st American comic book convention appearance. Find out about from both Mike and Paul about how it is like to work with the likes of such greats as Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, and John Russo. Come and find out what the talents of Avatar Press have in store for you in the upcoming year.

Come and meet and find out what it was like on the set of one of TV's most beloved comedies of all time. Find out some of the more shocking things that they are doing on the big screen today, and what they all have in store for the future.

Come and meet The Cast of this iconic TV show. Find out the ins and outs of one of TV's sci-fi classics. Find out about the new fan film that has evolved from the classic Buck Rogers TV series. And what these TV greats have in store for their future.

4:30pm - Speaker Room 1: Costume contest sponsored by Alienated Productions and Motor City Comic Con
All entry's for the costume contest should try and show up about 10-15 minutes earlier to get prepared for the contest. All entry's must register prior to the event at the Alienated production booth.

4:30pm - Speaker Room 3: Painting 101: Come and spend some time with this years program guide cover artists Mark Sparacio and Brian Rood.
Come and find out about the precision detail it takes to be a painter in todays comic book art world. Find out the difference between painting and penciling and why some still chose to stay will the time test format compared to todays' computer assisted coloring process.

4:45pm - Speaker Room 2: Meet The Last Dragon 's Bruce Leeroy, Taimak
Come and spend some time with Bruce Leeroy himself, Taimak. Find out what it was like filming The first hip-hop kung-fu movie back in 1985 and find out about what he has been doing since this iconic role and what his plans hold for the future.

Come and spend some time with Catwoman, Julie Newmar. Find out more about the 70's batman TV series and what Julie has been doing to keep herself busy through out these many years.

12:00pm - Speaker Room 2: Meet Mark Texeria
Come and spend some time with one of Marvel Comics most intriguing Artists. Find out about his past and future projects.

12:15pm - Speaker Room 3: Underground Comix's with Dan Fogel, Denis Kitchen and Frank Stack, These Comix Are Not For Kids
Come and spend some time with 60's Underground comix sensation Dan , Denis, and Frank. Find out what it was like working out side the ComicCode era. Putting out some of Americas most Iconic literature.

1:15pm - Speaker Room 2: Come and Meet Heroes and The Mummy's Erick Avari
Come and spend some time with the scientist that starts it all on TV's hit show Heroes. Find out what its like going from major motion pictures to TV. What the differences are and what his career has in store for the future.

1:15pm - Speaker Room 1: Star Trek: Osiris
The producers of Star Trek: Osiris will be presenting a behind the scenes look at the newest fan series on the Web. The documentary about the series will run approximately 30 minutes and will feature interviews with the production team, clips from the pilot episode, and some other behind-the-scenes material. Immediately following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to talk with the creators of the series as well as other members of the cast and crew via a panel discussion and Q & A session. On hand that day will be senior executive producer Jay Miller, co-executive producer T. Michael Adams, and associate producers Mary Gibbs and Misty Mills. Miller, Adams, Gibbs, and Mills are also members of the principle cast. Also in attendance will be series composer Jason Alan Wantuck and cast member Francesca Omillian.

1:45pm - Amateur Art Contest Awards
Come see who won in the Motor City Comic Cons amateur art contest. The judging will be held at 12:00pm, all entries must be turned in by this time. You could be looking at the next "hot artist". Awards presentation will be located behind registration (where art was dropped off).

1:45pm - Speaker Room 3: Meet Yancy Butler TV's Witchblade
Come and meet the star of TV's Witchblade, Yancy Butler. Find out about her upcoming project "Wolfsbayne", and what its like to play a strong female superhero torn straight from the comic book pages.

2:15pm - Speaker Room 2: Want to be a Freelance Illustrator? Come join Dave Aikens and Andy Bennitt
Welcome to the world of the licensed characters. Come find out what its like to take your favorite cartoon characters and bring them to print. Find out what its like to be an artist outside the comic book world.

2:45pm - Speaker Room 1: After the Blood Rush with Pete Trudgeon and Cast
When the shadow of vampirism looms over the city of Hamtramck its up to two government sanctioned slayers cleanse the neighborhood with out the public ever knowing. Tracking the slayers are three vicious vampire sex kittens out for revenge and thats just for starters. Run time: 88 mins.
