John Martin has been an illustrator and graphic designer for over thirty-five years. He is a graduate and current adjunct professor of Illustration at the College for Creative Studies. At the beginning of John’s career, he was employed at an art studio for several years and then ventured out as a freelance illustrator. John has worked with numerous clients such as McDonalds, Domino’s, Marvel, General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, Toyota, Wendy’s, Warner Brothers, Taco Bell, Big Boy, Bosco Sticks, Kitchen Aid and more. John has been honored to have received several art awards. This includes being accepted in juried and curated fine art shows by Syd Mead (Blade Runner fame) and Detroit rock poster artist, Mark Arminski. He has also received Popai, Caddy and Addy awards and was named the 2018 Artist in Residence in the city of Farmington Hills Michigan. John is the illustrator of the Publishers Weekly Starred reviewed and Cybils nominated book, “Vordak the Incomprehensible” book series which was authored by Scott Seegert. John and Scott have also teamed up on a newer book series called Sci-Fi Junior High. It was published by “Jimmy” (James Patterson’s imprint of Little Brown-Hachette). Sci-Fi Junior High had received a silver medal Parents Choice Award. Currently, John has been creating corporate comics for commercial clients, and his Pop’s Art Mart shop has had success selling pop culture art prints, stickers and paintings at popular fairs, shows and comic cons.
